The Problem That Started It All

Imagine this: it’s 2022, and homeowners across Connecticut are calling fence contractors only to hear the same frustrating news. “We can start your project in 8 to 10 weeks, maybe longer.” COVID had turned the construction world upside down, and the fence industry was no exception. Supply chains were a mess, materials were scarce, and good contractors were booked solid for months.

That’s when Lou Yorio, who’d been running LS Construction in New Fairfield for years, saw his neighbors and community struggling with these impossible delays. Lou had the connections to secure bulk materials when others couldn’t, and he had a skilled workforce ready to work. But he also knew that jumping into the fence business without the right expertise would be a disaster waiting to happen.

So in June 2022, Lou launched My Fence Guy as an extension of LS Construction. The goal was simple: help people get quality fences installed without the ridiculous wait times that had become normal. What Lou didn’t expect was how quickly word would spread throughout New Fairfield and the surrounding towns.

When Success Becomes Its Own Challenge

By early 2023, something unexpected happened. The demand for My Fence Guy’s services exploded beyond anything Lou had imagined. Phone calls were pouring in from homeowners who’d heard about the company that could actually deliver on time. The problem? Lou was a smart businessman who knew when he was in over his head.

Running a fence company isn’t just about having materials and workers. It requires deep knowledge of installation techniques, understanding different fence types, knowing how to handle tricky terrain, and managing the countless details that separate a good fence from one that fails in a few years. Lou needed someone with real fence industry experience, and he needed them fast.

That’s when Lou thought of his longtime friend Tony Pellicone. They’d grown up in New Fairfield together, and Lou knew Tony had been working in the fence industry for decades. What Lou didn’t know was just how perfect the timing would be.

Three Decades of Fence Industry Experience

Tony Pellicone didn’t stumble into the fence business. He started at Silvestri Fencing back in 1996, working his way up from entry-level positions to operations manager over 19 years. That’s not just experience, that’s mastery of every aspect of fence installation, from the initial site assessment to the final cleanup.

When Silvestri Fencing was sold in 2015, Tony explored other areas of contracting for a few years. But fencing kept calling him back. By 2018, he was managing the fence division for a local landscaping company, continuing to build his expertise in residential and commercial fence installation.

When Lou approached Tony in May 2023 about joining My Fence Guy, Tony saw an opportunity to combine his nearly three decades of hands-on experience with Lou’s business acumen and resource connections. It was a partnership that made perfect sense for both of them and, more importantly, for their customers.

Partnership Built on Results

Tony officially joined My Fence Guy in June 2023 to run the fence division operations. What happened next surprised even Lou. Within just four months, Tony had transformed the fence division into a completely self-sustaining operation. The combination of Tony’s operational expertise and Lou’s supply chain management created something special.

By September 2023, the growth had become so significant that Lou offered Tony a partnership in the company. It wasn’t just a nice gesture, it was a business necessity. Tony’s contribution was driving results that neither of them had anticipated, and Lou wanted to make sure they could build something lasting together.

The partnership works because both founders bring different but complementary strengths. Lou handles the big picture business development, supply chain relationships, and workforce coordination that keeps projects moving. Tony manages the technical side, quality control, and operational details that ensure every fence installation meets the high standards customers expect.

From Local Solution to Regional Leader

What started as a solution to help New Fairfield neighbors has grown into something much bigger. By 2024, My Fence Guy had become the go-to fence company not just in New Fairfield, but throughout the surrounding towns. Customers were choosing them because they combined the reliability of a local company with the expertise and resources typically found only at much larger operations.

2025 has been a banner year for expansion. My Fence Guy now serves customers across half of Connecticut’s counties, from residential neighborhoods to commercial properties. The company has also expanded into the Hudson Valley region of New York, bringing the same combination of expertise, reliability, and customer service that made them successful in Connecticut.

This growth didn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of doing excellent work, treating customers fairly, and building a reputation one satisfied customer at a time. When people know they can count on you to show up when promised and deliver quality results, word spreads quickly in communities like the ones we serve.

Why Experience and Local Knowledge Matter

There’s a big difference between contractors who treat fencing as just another construction job and those who understand the specific challenges of fence installation in Connecticut and New York. Our region has unique requirements that out-of-state companies or inexperienced contractors often miss.

For example, frost lines in our area require posts to be set deeper than in warmer climates. The freeze-thaw cycles we experience each winter can destroy improperly installed fences. Heavy snow loads, ice storms, and the occasional nor’easter put stress on fencing that contractors from other regions might not anticipate.

Then there are the local regulations. Different towns have different height restrictions, setback requirements, and permit processes. Some areas have historical preservation guidelines that affect what types of fencing are allowed. Tony’s three decades in the industry, combined with Lou’s deep local connections, mean we know how to navigate these requirements efficiently.

You don’t want to learn these lessons the hard way with your fence project. You want contractors who already know what works in our climate, understand local codes, and have relationships with the right suppliers and inspectors.

What Sets Us Apart

The fence industry has plenty of companies that can install basic fencing. What makes My Fence Guy different is the combination of deep industry experience, local knowledge, reliable supply chains, and a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction.

Tony’s nearly 30 years of hands-on experience means we know how to handle the complicated installations that other contractors might struggle with. Slopes, rocky soil, tight spaces, and unusual property configurations don’t scare us because we’ve dealt with them all before.

Lou’s background with LS Construction gives us access to resources and workforce capabilities that most fence-only companies don’t have. When we commit to a timeline, we have the people and materials to meet it. When we say we’ll be there on Tuesday morning, we show up on Tuesday morning.

Most importantly, we’re local people serving our own communities. New Fairfield is local to both Lou and Tony. When we do work in surrounding towns throughout Connecticut and New York, we’re serving neighbors, not just customers. That relationship matters to us, and it shows in the quality of our work.
